Our Mission

Downtown Cottage Grove works collaboratively to create an inviting downtown experience that respects our heritage, enhances our economic vitality, and beautifies our community. The Main Street Program merged with the Cottage Grove Economic and Business Improvement District (EBID) due to shared values and the ability to expand its boundary and provide more resources.

The Main Street Program was implemented nationally in 1980 to revitalize downtowns across America that had fallen into decline. The interstate system and the creation of shopping malls had an adverse effect on our downtowns. Travelers bypassed communities, and shoppers found it more convenient to head to the mall.  Thanks to the Main Street Program, downtowns across America are springing back to life, and our community is one of them.

Downtown Cottage Grove has a Board of Directors, a Program Administrator, and will be developing four committees. More information about the committees and the projects we do can be found HERE.

The Design Committee focuses on the beautification of downtown. Projects include clean-up day, planting flower beds, putting up hanging flower baskets and a graffiti removal program. A façade improvement program is in the works.

The Promotion Committee is charged with projects that bring excitement to our downtown, such as special events. Special events include Halloween Howl Trick or Treat and Christmas in Cottage Grove.

The Economic Restructuring Committee provides business support and works to recruit business. This website was an idea that developed through this committee as a result of a market analysis the committee requested.

The Organization Committee maintains the by-laws, the mission, and the visioning of the organization.

If you are interested in volunteering on one of these committees, contact Interim Program Administrator Ruth Linoz using the contact form. For more information about the Main Street Program’s four-point approach, visit the Oregon Main Street Website.
